Experience the Excitement of Flying a Small Plane Around the World … With a Woman

In her new book, Following Amelia: A Modern-Day ‘Round-the-World Flight, Sandi Smith shares the real-life adventure of her adrenaline-flowing 1995 world flight with copilot Jay Merten in his single-engine Piper Malibu. This book contains a daily narrative of the 86-day trip in fast-reading, novel-like style as the pilots encounter equipment breakdowns, monsoons, new cultures and religions, and heart-wrenching family challenges.

The interleaved perspectives of international aviation, travel, and humanitarian activities make this book one-of-a-kind. Sandi also weaves in facts about Amelia Earhart from her 1937 flight and compares Amelia's flight to modern-day flying. You don’t need a pilot’s license to enjoy this inspirational read.
